Man overboard when working over open sea (Norwegian Oil and Gas Association DFU 1)

On behalf of the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association (former OLF) and several national and international oil companies, OilComp did evaluations of 56 fixed and mobile installations in the North Sea in 2004. The focus were on work over open water (Norwegian Oil and Gas Association DFU 1), where OilComp went through the installations’ safety and emergency related equipment and in addition procedures and training associated with work over open sea.

Man overboard when working on an open sea is described as one of the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association's defined hazard and accident situations (DFU) in connection to area emergency. This DFU in area emergency context is defined as DFU 1. Performance requirements for picking up from the sea are set to 8 minutes. The project described the dangers that are present as well as the measures that can reduce the consequences if this situation were to occur.
